Nada’s Famous “Sakura Tunnel”

Just south of Maya Cable Shita Station in Kobe’s Nada Ward, in a residential neighborhood on a steep slope overlooking the city and ocean, there’s a place which locals love to visit every spring. It’s called “Sakura Tunnel” because of the seventy cherry trees lining the street which, when the flowers are in bloom, create a “tunnel” of pink for visitors to pass through.

In Kobe, cherry blossoms typically reach their peak around the last week of March to the first week of April. If you happen to be in the area, be sure to come by and enjoy this beautiful sight. The street can get quite crowded with cars in the afternoon, so early morning is the best time to visit for the chance of an unobstructed view.

How to get there: Nada’s “Sakura Tunnel” is accessible by car or a 15-minute walk from Hankyu Ojikoen Station.
